Tony Revolori in Talks for Disney+ Willow Series
Fans may see a familiar face move from the big screen of the MCU to the small screen of Disney+. Rumor is that Lucasfilms is currently in negotiations with Tony Revolori, who fans might recognize as the arrogant bully Flash Thompson in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider Man: Far from Home, for a lead roll in the highly anticipated Disney+ series based off of the 1988 fantasy movie, Willow.
Revolori would be starring opposite Ellie Bamber, Cailee Spaeny (Pacific Rim: Uprising), and Erin Kellyman (Solo: A Star Wars Story). Although the show will bring back together the original film’s director Ron Howard and writer Bob Dolman, it promises to introduce a cast of new characters into an already unforgettable realm of enchantment. The series is set after the events of the film and is believed to be centered on the mission to save a kidnapped prince.
Deadline reports that, “The members of the team include Dove (Bamber), an unassuming kitchen maid whose backstory resembles that of Willow from the movie. Proven that she is “the chosen one,” she is joined on the journey by Kit (Spaeny), the princess whose twin brother was abducted. Kellyman plays Jade, a servant who is Kit’s best friend and moral compass. Also part of the group is a guy, referred to as Boorman, who echoes Val Kilmer’s character in the movie. It is not entire clear if Revolori portrays that character, a thief and liar who joins the quest in exchange for getting out of prison.”
Revolori may need to adjust to the new scenery as he would be leaving the bustling city of Venice, where some of Far from Home was shot, to the beautiful open landscape of Wales. Taking the Willow series back to where the original film was shot will bring back the all the feels that fans of the original are sure to appreciate.
The series will mark the first venture out of the Star Wars franchise for Lucasfilms since 2015 and expectations are high. As more details emerge, we are getting more excited to see the resurrection of a film that many of us grew up watching as children. Let’s hope that they deliver!
